Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 with the HDfury VRROOM

From 1080p to 4K60 HDR: both Nintendo consoles pass the VRROOM untouched, and the right EDID keeps them honest.

What Nintendo specifies

Per Nintendo’s official Switch 2 feature page: “screen resolutions up to 4K” with “frame rates up to 120 fps on compatible TVs”, where the “frame rate is fixed to a maximum of 60 fps for 4K output”, and “4K resolution and HDR are available in supported games, and require a compatible display”. The original Switch tops out at 1080p in TV mode.

On the VRROOM side

The VRROOM’s default EDID already advertises everything a Switch 2 can send. If you run [CUSTOM EDID] per input, pick a bank that matches: the EDID list includes 4K60 HDR tables (banks 41–52) and 1080p tables (74–91) for the original Switch. For 120 fps modes below 4K, the 4K120-capable banks (17–28) leave all headroom open.

Docked consoles that sleep can still hold the input active; the VRROOM’s [AUTOSWITCH INPUTS] on ON SENSE uses TMDS/pixel-clock detection to “automatically switch to the active signal if the selected signal is lost” — see the CONFIG chapter.

Game audio from the Switch reaches your AVR or soundbar through the VRROOM’s dedicated audio outputs like any other source — the audio extraction chapter explains the routing.
