PS4 Pro and Xbox One X with the HDfury VRROOM

The 4K60 console generation runs perfectly through the VRROOM — and the Xbox One X is even named in the manual as the poster child for the autoswitch.

The X1X standby problem, solved

The Xbox One X keeps sending +5V on HDMI when it is in standby, which confuses ordinary switchers. From the VRROOM feature highlights, verbatim: the TMDS/pixel-clock switching is the “sole switch in the world capable of autoswitching sources such as ATV4K, X1X, Shield or any others sources devices who keep sending +5v in standby and that no switcher in the world can autoswitch.” Set [AUTOSWITCH INPUTS] to ON SENSE on the CONFIG page. The manual also notes: “ON POWER rely on +5V detection” — which is exactly why ON SENSE is the mode for these consoles.

Signals and matrix use

These consoles top out at 4K60, which sits comfortably inside the VRROOM’s 18Gbps matrix modes: “Matrix solution is available for HDMI stream up to 4K60 4:4:4 8b, 4K60 4:2:2 12b…” — so a PS4 Pro can play on the TV while another source feeds the projector, with full audio extracted alongside. HDR10 passes untouched, and older HDCP-sensitive displays are covered by the HDCP Doctor’s two-way conversion (HDCP chapter).

Fun fact from the firmware notes (0.22, verbatim): “Fixed a rare condition at startup when signal could be limited to 4K120 420 8b” and “Improved support for PC GPU when mode change or input switching” — the switching path has seen years of refinement. Keep your firmware current.
