Windows PC / HTPC with the HDfury VRROOM
The VRROOM has a dedicated mode for home-theater PCs — and supports every PC graphics resolution up to 8K. All quotes below are from the official manual and firmware notes.
Supported PC resolutions
From the official FAQ: “All PC graphics mode within the 1200MHz bandwidth are supported, including ultra-high resolution such as WQSXGA, QUXGA, QFHD, WQUXGA, 4K, 8K.” And no driver tricks are needed on the source: “The HDfury VRROOM will be detected as a 2160p120 4:4:4 10b or 8K60 4:2:0 10b capable device by the source and it will always accept and process the highest quality stream from your source devices.”
HTPC mode: keep your desktop icons in place
From the CONFIG chapter, verbatim: “[HTPC MODE]: Set HTPC mode ON/OFF individually for each input. Useful if you have trouble with Windows and icons when turning your secondary display off or resuming from stand-by mode. Please note that HTPC mode is not compatible with HDCP signal.” Enable it on the input your PC uses via the web server’s CONFIG page.
Nvidia users: firmware 0.27 “Added reporting for 4096x2160p120 for Nvidia control panel issue” — another reason to run the latest firmware.
One TV-side tip from the FAQ
“For ex, on samsung: in order to enable the 444 colorspace for 4k in Samsung TV’s you must go to ‘settings’ and ‘hdmi’ and ‘UHD color’ and enable it. Then also you must assign the HDMI port1 as ‘PC’ in the tools menu. Only after these two steps will 600MHz be accepted.” Full text in the manual FAQ.
