The VRROOM presents a custom EDID to your source player that claims the display supports player-led Dolby Vision (LLDV). The player then does the Dolby Vision tone mapping itself and outputs an HDR10-like signal carrying that result, instead of falling back to its own generic HDR10 conversion. VRROOM passes that signal through, and can add the HDR info-frame most displays need to switch into HDR mode automatically. The display itself never receives, and never needs, real Dolby Vision — it only ever sees HDR10. What changes is which device did the tone mapping.
