LG UR8000: Dolby Vision with the HDfury VRROOM
The LG UR8000 supports HDR10 Pro — but has no native Dolby Vision decoder. Here is the exact HDfury VRROOM setup that gets Dolby-Vision–quality, scene-by-scene tone mapping onto it anyway.
The problem: HDR10 Pro, no Dolby Vision
LG brands its own tone-mapped HDR10 processing “HDR10 Pro,” and Dolby Vision is not listed for this model. The LG UR8000’s own LG official product page lists HDR10 Pro — Dolby Vision is not among the supported formats.
The fix: the VRROOM’s LLDV enabler
Your source player does the actual Dolby Vision tone mapping, the VRROOM tells the player it’s allowed to do that, and your screen receives what looks like an ordinary HDR10 signal.
1. Your player
Apple TV 4K, an Oppo or Panasonic Blu-ray player, a Kaleidescape, an NVIDIA Shield and others already know how to output Dolby Vision — they just need to see a display that claims Dolby Vision support in its EDID (that’s step 2). Exact per-player menu steps are in the player setup guides.
2. The VRROOM
Open the VRROOM’s web server, go to the EDID tab, and assign Custom EDID 5 (Sony A1 LLDV, DCI-P3) or Custom EDID 10 (Sony A1 LLDV, BT.2020) to the input your player is connected to — both are ready-made LLDV EDIDs, nothing else to configure. Then, in the HDR/AVI tab, turn on “Use custom HDR for TX0 and TX1 when input is LLDV.” Restart your player after changing the EDID. 3. Your TV or monitor
Usually nothing at all — it only ever sees an HDR10 signal and shows it as HDR10. Leave it in its normal HDR10/auto picture mode. The one exception: displays without automatic HDR-mode switching may need HDR forced on manually in their picture menu.
