Sony UBP-X700 with the HDfury VRROOM
The UBP-X700’s Dolby Vision switch is unusual: there is no Auto mode. Know when to flip it — the player facts below come from Sony’s official support article.
The Dolby Vision Output switch
Per Sony’s official instructions: press HOME, select Screen Settings, and set Dolby Vision Output Setting to ON. Sony notes: “There is no ‘Auto’ setting and the default setting of Dolby Vision Output is OFF.”
Two consequences from the same article: with the switch ON, “the Video Settings and 3D Playback function will become unavailable” and all content plays in Dolby Vision output mode — while with the switch OFF, “content corresponding to Dolby Vision is output with HDR10”. So set it ON for a Dolby Vision chain (or a VRROOM LLDV → HDR10 setup) and leave it OFF when you prefer plain HDR10.
On the VRROOM side
With a Dolby Vision display connected at TX0, the VRROOM presents the display’s own DV capabilities to the Sony automatically via the sniffed DV datablock — see the DV chapter of the manual. For an HDR10-only display or projector, enable the conversion: “1. In EDID Tab, select Custom EDID 10 or use Copy TX sink EDID and Modify and select Custom LLDV. 2. In HDR tab, select ‘Use custom HDR when input is LLDV’.” Restart the player afterwards.
