Kaleidescape Strato with the HDfury VRROOM
The movie server of choice in high-end theaters — and a device the VRROOM firmware explicitly takes care of.
What the Strato outputs
Per Kaleidescape’s official Strato V specification, video output runs up to “2160p60/50/30/25/24” with “HDR: Dolby Vision (standard and low-latency) and HDR10 (SMPTE ST 2084, 2086)”, and audio up to “Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio” over HDMI.
Because the Strato supports low-latency Dolby Vision natively, it pairs directly with the VRROOM’s LLDV → HDR10 conversion for projectors without DV support — the same recipe as for other LLDV sources: “1. In EDID Tab, select Custom EDID 10 or use Copy TX sink EDID and Modify and select Custom LLDV. 2. In HDR tab, select ‘Use custom HDR when input is LLDV’.” See the LLDV>HDR10 chapter.
A fix shipped specifically for the Strato
VRROOM firmware 0.61 lists, verbatim: “Addressed the problem that the image flashes for a moment when the signal from Kaleidscape source device is repeated.” If you see momentary flashes with a Strato, update to the latest firmware first.
The Strato’s full audio — Atmos over TrueHD included — reaches your processor via the VRROOM’s dedicated HDMI audio output or eARC output while the projector receives clean video, exactly the core VRROOM audio feature.
