Troubleshooting
VRROOM: audio echo or lip-sync problems
An echo on every voice, or sound that runs ahead of the picture, after installing an HDfury VRROOM. Both symptoms have simple, reliable fixes.
Fix an audio echo
- Check the TV’s sound output setting: an echo usually means the TV speakers are playing alongside your soundbar or AVR, slightly out of sync — easy to miss when the soundbar sits right under the TV.
- Open the VRROOM web server > CONFIG and set MUTE TX0 AUDIO (or MUTE TX1 for a display on TX1) to ON. The TV then receives no audio at all, and only the sound system plays.
Fix lip-sync
- Know the direction: with an HDMI source at a VRROOM input, audio can only run ahead of the picture, never behind it (unless you forced a delay yourself).
- Add audio delay on your sound system or AVR until voices match lips.
- Apple TV owners: use the ATV4K’s Wireless Audio Sync feature — with VRROOM handling video it can now measure and correct the remaining offset automatically.
Why this happens
Displays need time to process video, so the picture arrives slightly later than sound that took a shorter path through the audio output — which is why the correction is always delaying audio, a control every AVR and most soundbars offer. VRROOM itself adds virtually no latency (under 1ms, a few pixel clocks), so it is never the cause of a visible offset.
Do you need a VRROOM for this?
Yes, if…
- your echo comes from routing audio two ways because your AVR can’t pass the video — VRROOM separates video and audio cleanly so each device gets only what it should
No, if…
- you simply forgot to disable the TV speakers — that fix is free, in the TV’s sound menu
- your sound runs behind the picture without any HDfury gear: look at your soundbar’s own processing modes first
