Chromecast en Google TV Streamer met de VRROOM
Google’s streamers werken prima achter een VRROOM — en verschillende VRROOM-firmwarefixes zijn speciaal voor Chromecast-gedrag uitgebracht.
Instellingen aan de Google-kant
Volgens Google’s officiële pagina over beeldscherminstellingen voor de Chromecast met Google TV en de Google TV Streamer: onder All settings > Display & Sound kies je je voorkeursresolutie, selecteer je dynamisch bereik en kleurformaten, en schakel je Match content frame rate in zodat het “streaming device match[es] the frame rate to the source content”. Google merkt ook op dat als niet-HDR-video oververzadigd oogt, het inschakelen van Match content dat kan verhelpen, en dat je de keuze van het HDR-formaat automatisch aan apps kunt overlaten.
Chromecast-fixes in de VRROOM-firmware
Firmware 0.61 vermeldt deze punten, woordelijk uit de officiële notes:
- “Addressed the problem that the TV sometimes flashes when the signal of ChromeCast source device is input”
- “Addressed the problem that downstream HDCP certification may become 1.4 when when the refresh rate of 4K HDR video is switched to 50Hz<->60Hz with Google Chromecast Ultra”
- “Addressed the problem that downstream HDCP authentication may become 1.4 when the refresh rate is switched to 50Hz<->60Hz in smartphone Google Home application”
Zie je flitsen of HDCP-eigenaardigheden met een Chromecast? Update dan eerst naar de nieuwste firmware — dit zijn opgeloste problemen.
Wisselen tussen vijftig en zestig hertz komt bij deze apparaten veel voor met Europese content; de VRROOM geeft beide onaangetast door, en een korte hersynchronisatie bij een formaatwissel is normaal HDMI-gedrag — zie FAQ VIDEO.
